“In 2016 I bought a second hand Teenage Engineering OP-1 personal synthesiser to accompany me on my walks in the fields and lanes around the A303. This single comprises two tracks I wrote on the OP-1 in situ on Windmill Hill in Charlton Horethorne, and Stone Henge on Salisbury Plain. I spent a couple of days at each location soaking up the atmosphere, history and topography of the surroundings, chatting to curious passersby, writing music on the synthesiser’s internal four track recorder, plugging in Raudive diodes, boundary mics and mixing the resulting audio capture with my musical, emotional response to the surroundings, weather and history. There was no sequencing in the production of the music, every note was played in real time, layered on top of previous parts, to preserve the continuous passing of time in the place.” —Matthew J Saunders

This is the first single in a series of pyschogeographic studies that were recorded in the field between July 2016 and March 2017.
